American Gold and Peridot Bangle Bracelet
U.S.
c.1900
An American bangle bracelet of engraved gold circles the wrist with elegance and charm. The patenated gold is interspersed with the soft green of peridot stones on the front. The engraving is on the front and reverse of the bangle. This particular bracelet slips easily over the medium size wrist and fits most women.
Narrow bracelets were worn in the 1870’s in Europe and in America. Many such bangles were manufactured in Newark, New Jersey and have become highly collectible as they are historic to American jewelry manufacture. Today, as in earlier times, gold bangles are worn in profusion on one or both wrists, sometimes reaching half way to to the elbow. Our bracelet measures 1/4 inch from top to bottom edge and 2½ inches in the slightly oval interior space. American, c.1900.
